Recently we looked to Mid-Michigan Bio-Medical for a autoclave repair. We needed our autoclave re-certified. Their website stated free quotes so we gave them a call to setup a time for them to pick up the item for an estimate. The company said they could do this, and could come out on a Tuesday as they were already going to be in the area.
While he was here i asked several times if he would have a ball park on how much it would cost to get the unit repaired. And i was told he would have an idea for me the following Monday. I was a bit nervous at the time handing over my autoclave without any paper work. "do you have anything for me to fill out"? he replies you have my contact information and ill get a hold of you.

Two days later the guy called me back to let me know the repairs had already been done (without our permission) and the tab was over $1100. As I was waiting for a quote I was shocked at this. I called around to other MIDMARK certified technicians in the area and found out the same repair that was done was almost half the cost with travel time included (they also recommended shipping it, as it would of been even cheaper). After hearing this i asked Mid-Michigan Bio-Medical to send me an invoice so i could see what exactly i was being charged for. Upon inspecting the invoice I emailed and asked them to explain the charges. There response was “fine ill keep the unit”. Even asking for the unit back with no repairs ( as we were never given the option ) was going to cost us $750.

My experience with Mid-Michigan Bio-Medical Inc was a experience of extortion turned to theft. I called MidMark themselves to see if anything could have been done. As I don’t understand why a company would allow such hanus business practices. As it stands the last email from Mid-Michigan Bio-Medical Inc stated I have 180 days to pick up the unit. I asked again what it would cost to pick it up with no repairs and am yet to hear anything back.

I would highly recommend staying away from this company for any services. And recommend MidMark to be more cautious of who they have representing their licensed repair technicians.
