Southside Elementary School offers a range of learning opportunities for students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. The school offers art, reading and math classes, as well as guidance counseling services. It operates a cafeteria that provides a variety of food items. Southside Elementary School also conducts sessions in science, social studies, music and physical education. The school offers the Title I program and operates a library. It is a recipient of the VIP Competence to Excellence Award from the Virginia Board of Education. Southside Elementary School is governed by Dinwiddie County Public Schools, which serves more than 4,000 students annually.
