The YMCA was established in the United States in 1851. The Dodge City Family YMCA began with a group of mothers in Dodge City determined to have a YMCA operation in Dodge City in December of 2010. Several meetings were held following the idea and the Garden City Family YMCA was asked to assist in the Dodge City Family YMCA. The following April a Dodge City Family YMCA Steering Committee was formed with 15 members of the Dodge City Community. Then a primary market analysis, a childcare survey, a community needs assessment, and a feasibility study were conducted and determined the need for the YMCA. Then our Founders Campaign was launched in February 2012 and after eight months we reached our goal of 1.25 million dollars.
