DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT sign up for classes at this school. I was in the phlebotomy/ekg course and unfortunately it was too late for me to withdraw and get my money back. This school is the most unprofessional piece of **** school I have ever attended. They promised us clinicals, nationally recognized certification and jobs. We did not get any clinicals. Their excuse was that they couldn't find a place, so I asked for my clinical money back and they wouldn't give it to me. They did not provide me with nationally recognized certification, you have to fill out a load of paperwork, pay 90 bucks and take a separate test through a separate agency to get nationaly certified. I also found out that when hospitals see that you went to FMTI they DO NOT hire you, in fact they immediately disregard your application because they know what a piece of **** FMTI is. You are better off waiting and paying less to go to miami dade college.

FMTI Review

When I first started thinking of taking a phlebotomy class I realized that the two most important things were a good instructor who had knowledge of the subject and being able to learn hands on. So when I found FMTI I was ecstatic. They're curriculum looked good and included 120 hours of clinical training which was a must was for me. When I started the course, the clinical coordinator came in to speak to us and said that it wasn’t the hours that mattered, but the amount of pokes we had. In order to get our certificates in Phlebotomy, you need to have at least 50 pokes. I was a little dissapointed but it was something I could deal with. As my classmates started the clinical, it became clear to all of us that this clinic not only was extremely small, but there were barely any people in there. They were spending a whole day at the clinic and not poking any patients. We emailed the clinical coordinator and when he came to speak to the class about our concern, I was shocked not only by what he said, but also by the way he spoke to us. He said that there had been a mistake in the curriculum and that it was not his "problem" that there weren’t any patients that needed their blood drawn. And that if we wanted to go by what the curriculum said he would send us to the clinic for 120 hours.

What frustrates me the most is that instead of coming up with a solution to the problem he just tried to cover his back. It would be hard enough to find a job with little experience, much less find a job with no experience. I could have gotten a phlebotomy degree online for less than $600 but there wouldn’t be any experience involved. So I paid over $1100.00 for this course and I'm still not getting the experience I wanted.

When I started, there wasn’t any reviews or any information about the school online. At this point in time there is no turning back because I already paid for the course and they do not offer a refund. I'm posting this here because I want other potential students to know what they are in for.

The instructor, Al, is a phenomenal teacher. But if you're looking for practice and/or experience this is not the school to go to. You'll end up wasting your money and time…just like I did.
