Provided by YP.comWhere to begin....I guess the best part of the experience was checking in. I tried to get a discounted room, but was told that the only room available was an upgraded King room, or a smoking room which was really bad. Front desk was so helpful and pleasant, that I went with the "upgraded" room. It was clean, but looked like it was in the middle of a remodel. I was tired, so I suffered. The remote sort of worked on the TV, it changed channels, but that was it. To turn on/off the TV or adjust the volume, I had to figure out the controls on the TV itself. In the morning, I took a shower, but the drain in the tub was slow. When I went to check out, I told the girl at the front desk, and she shot back "Well, I'm not the owner." I replied, "Obviously you are not, but I think you might be able to tell maintenance about these issues before the room gets used again." With her attitude, I figured that she wouldn't tell maintenance, and I then also decided not to tell her about the sugar ants in the breakfast area, none of the lamps were plugged in my room (and I still am not sure which plug in belonged to the wall switch, since nothing worked with it), or that one of the pillows must have come from a smoking room since it reeked of cigarette smoke.

Provided by YPmobileHorrible black mold inside most of t;e rooms. It is very very run down. The owner lives on the property and seems to I'm up transients and people who are down on their luck. And then does not pay them for all of there work. It seems to be a form of modern day slave labor.

Provided by YP.comOn Thursday 5/7/09 I checked into the Howard Johnson hotel in Dothan, AL using my credit card. Unsure if I would be staying for one night or two, Mr. Sunny Patel (owner of the hotel and front desk attendant) informed me that he would just leave my credit card open just in case I decided to stay the second night. I was led to believe that if I did stay the second night that I did not need to do anything and the hotel would just charge my credit card account that had been left open. On Friday 5/8/09 at about 12:15 pm I left for lunch and returned approximately 45 minutes later to find my room key didn't work. At the front desk I found that all of my belongings had been collected from the room and placed in a sack because I hadn't been to the front desk before 12:00pm to inform the hotel that I would be staying the second night. At check in on the previous day I was never given any instructions to return to the desk to do anything concerning staying for an additional night. I had made myself absolutely clear that it was a possibility that I would stay an additional night. I found myself extremely upset that someone had been in and bothered my personal belongings. Mrs. Patel returned them to me in a sack and offer no apology. She and Mr. Patel only defended there policies and practices. I did ask for compensation and Mr. Patel refused. I was very disappointed in the service provided by this hotel.
