South Georgia College is a coeducational, residential two-year college founded in 1906 as the Eleventh District Agricultural and Mechanical School. The college is created by an act of the Georgia Legislature and is a part of the University System of Georgia. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associates degrees. It collaborates with Waycross College to offer an associate degree registered nursing program. The college offers a range of counseling options for students. Its student activities include intramurals, campus publications, student government association, campus organizations, dramatic and concert series, student publications, Honors Day and other leisure time activities. South Georgia College also offers area citizens conferences, seminars and short courses to develop specific competencies and provide information on special interest topics. It is located in Douglas, Ga.
