I waiting for a long time to finally see Dr. Brooks in the Douglasville, Ga office, although my wait time before I got to the back was quite quick. Dr. Brooks walked in the office, said I had a lateral malleus fracture, asked if I had insurance, told me that he would put me in a boot if I had, left the room, and I didn't see him again. They did not take a new x-ray of my fracture. A nurse came in the room, very roughly wrapped my ankle in a very nice ace bandage, and then she left. Now I have a bill for $291.50 after they applied the amount I gave them of $150 upon my arrival at their facility. I was never shown a list of what they said they did, like the ones you have to sign when you leave any doctor's office while you're making your next appointment; but I was stopped in the parking lot to sign an agreement of monthly payments (yes, even though I was never informed of the cost of that day's visit). I believe that just because I do not have insurance, I was not properly treated and that I was severely overcharged for the services rendered. I am not sure if that was Dr. Brooks' fault or the practice that is enforced at Pinnacle Orthopaedics.
