Sushi place in Tuscarawas Valley

Our son and daughter in law ordered to go for a family evening at home... It was great and we felt well taken care since everything was packed with nothing missing including the wasabe.

We recommend their sushi as among the best in Ohio!

We've eaten there 3 times so far and found the non-sushi entrees to be so-so but the sushi is solidly good. Tea and soup need to be served hotter but it beats driving all the way to the next closest sushi option which is Wasabi in Canton. The 16 piece "boat" is cheaper than Wasabi's equivalent but piece by piece Katana is more expense BUT the savings on gas to travel farther makes up for it easily. Decor is too dark but so is Wasabi. Service is good and the place is clean. Might only be 3 stars in NYC but here in the Appalachian Food Desert this place is 5 stars and well worth the 45 minute drive from Peoli, OH. We'll definitely continue to patronize Katana.

Love love love this place. A serious gem and just what this area needed. Like the pp said, don't judge a book by its cover, the inside makes you feel like you are somewhere else. Staff is so nice and food is great!

Exactly what our small town needed. Don't judge this book by it's cover. Great atmosphere. Awesome sushi. Unforgettable hibachi grill steak and fresh veggies!!! Yum, can't wait to to back.

As a vegetarian family we usually have a very hard time finding somewhere with a lot of options. Katana had plenty to choose from. We had teriyaki tofu, sweet potato roll, veggie roll, cucumber roll, miso soup, and seaweed salad. Everything was great! Our favorites were the sweet potato roll and the seaweed salad. Even our 1 year old loved it. Definitely our new favorite!

It may help that I've only ever had the sushi from the Chinese buffet at the mall until now, but Katana's sushi is -outstanding-. So are the Thai Rolls (white fish, stone crab, avocado and cream cheese)! It would be helpful to a sushi newcomer to be presented with descriptions of what kind of fish was included in the varying sushi, but everything seemed fresh and cleanly prepared. My fianc and I sat at the sushi bar as all the booth seating was actually full when we got there. I took that as an indicator that the place was delish, and honestly, sitting at the bar seeing the food prepared is one of the intrigues of the experience. I've never seen a blinking, diamond-shaped ice cube until Katana. Admittedly, I thought it a bit tacky at first, but when that intoxicating sense of satisfactory fullness washed over my tummy, and I realized the food, kitchen talent, and comfortably casual atmosphere was legit, I chose to delight in the experience.

I heard about Katana and was very excited to find a Japanese Restaurant in Dover, Ohio. I had recently been to Wasabi in Canton, Ohio and had their Sushi Deluxe. Katana also has a Sushi Deluxe which I enjoyed yesterday evening. Got a to go order and was given soup, salad and 10 generous portions of sushi. It was wonderful and I am very happy to have a local sushi restaurant.

I have just returned from a solo dinner at Katana Japanese Restaurant, located in the Heritage Square plaza in Dover (same as Giant Eagle). I must say, I'm quite happy with it. While they do have hibachi and other dishes available, my preference is usually for sushi. Although situated in strip mall, you don't really notice that once you step inside. The place is sparsely lit, with a nice, almost minimalist, decor. I did reather like the fact they actually took the time to specifically light the wall art rather than just hang it up and forget about it. I decided to sit at the Sushi Bar, itself, and ordered the "Tako Su" appetizer, which is sliced octopus in a light "ponzu" sauce. For my entree, I selected a Fire Roll (tuna roll tempura with masago scallion on top). Between the two, the sushi chef offered me a plate of crabmeat salad with a light dusting of tempura, on the house. Everything was great, I really recommend trying the place out.
