Parent of two students

We have been at the Academy for 4 years and I cannot tell you what a blessing it has been. My oldest daughter came here and began training at the age of 14, after just four years, she was offered a trainee postition with a leading ballet company and she was only of 18!. My 16 year old has been offered dance scholarships from all over the U.S. Sherry Moray and Irina Starovoitova have created a program that offers these dancers the professional training that they need. We have been to other studios and have never had the kind of professional training that we receive at the Academy. The staff is extremely well-trained and professional. I travel over an hour to get here but it is well worth the trip. Not only do I highly recommend this studio, I can tell you this is the ONLY place to dance!

i don't like it at all!

I started dance at the age of 2 at ADA, when i was little i loved it, well what's not to love at that age! but as i got older, about 7 years old, i really started to not like the studio, not because the atmosphere was depressing, which it was and from what i've heard, still is, but because of many of the teachers, such as Sherry, Jen, and others. All Sherry really cared about was the ballet, and for a child being on Steppin' Out Dance Company who was required to take ballet to be on the team, i didn't like that, nor did my fellow team members. One summer, she was putting on a performance of Pandora's Box, and all the team members had to miss one practice due to a competition, so we did not the the steps for a certain section, and i remember her clearly saying "Don't you team students understand that this performance is much more important than your boring competitions?!" and Jen didn't like ANY of the younger kids, and i mean she didn't like ANY OF US! she only liked the older ones, an

Not a child friendly, inspiring program.

While well educated and trained, the professional teaching the children's dance classes doesn't seem to actually like being around children. Often snappish, and inconsistent depending on her mood. While expecting professionalism in toddlers, the instructor starts class fifteen to twenty minutes late. I think the older programs are probably very good; for the younger ones find a studio that encourages a love of dance, while building on the foundation skills.
