I had an unsettling experience at the Doylestown Beauty Depot, this week buying a hot brush styler. My hair is not thick, but the heat in the styler was so weak I couldn't even get my bangs dry. When my daughter returned it for me with the receipt, they only gave me 50% back. This, they informed me, after I called about it, was because I had tried it. Duh! That's how I knew it didn't work! I then went back and picked out another brush styler and asked them what I should do in the event that this one didn't function well either. They said I had to return everything in the box exactly the way I found it, and that I absolutely could not try it on my hair. When I got home, my husband took an hour carefully unpacking the new product; I then plugged it in and put my hand up to it. Barely any warmth. My husband then spent another hour trying to repack it, but we couldn't fit all the cardboard back in the box. I called Beauty Depot and they said to bring it in and they would decide if they would give me a full refund. They did, ultimately, but they acted unfriendly and far from accommodating. (They told me my daughter's hair was too thick and that was the problem. When I explained my daughter doesn't use a hair dryer, they then said that it wasn't really a hair dryer. Huh? Why didn't they tell me that when I first went in and asked to see their hair dryers?) After I returned the second non-dryer dryer, I went to Riteaid, and picked out [what turned out to be] a fabulous dryer. But before I left, I asked the sales person what would happen if I didn't like it, or it didn't work well? She smiled and said, "Just bring it back with the receipt." I love the new dryer and have no intention of bringing it back OR of shopping at Beauty Depot again. According to them, the customer is NOT always right. Bad experience.
