Worst experience ever. I bought a used 2007 Camry Hybrid from them about a month ago. Right after I purchased it and started driving it home it shut off within 5 blocks. Turns out the hybrid battery is dead, the car can't go for more that 5-10 minutes without shutting off. I just happened to test drive it for that 5-10 minutes that it didn't shut down. There's no way in the world they didn't know this car had such an obvious issue unless I was the only person to ever test drive it ever, but they sold it to me anyways without telling me. They wouldn't take it back either, they said they couldn't take a car with such a major issue. This is right after they sold me the car with said major issue!

Anyways I ended up having to replace the hybrid battery for $3,500, only to find out that the brakes are messed up as well. It's in the shop right now, but estimates put it somewhere in the range of another $1,500-$3,000. Congrats Karl Malone Toyota for unloading a terrible lemon, you got me good.

Don't waste your money

I came in to buy a car and they treat very well but as soon as you sign that contract they toss you out like yesterday's garbage. These guys will say and do anything to get you to buy a car but then all the promises they make are thrown out the window. I've been trying to get in contact with someone who will follow through on everything they promised and even wrote into my contract but no one is ever available. To this day things that they were supposed to fix are still broken. They dont take care of their vehicles, they make them look pretty by polishing them up but they dont bother fixing anything else. Ive put about $700 in the first month alone on this lemon.Just a bunch of liars and scammers. Go somewhere else. Save yourself the trouble and time and especially the money.

With Karl Malone Toyota for years

In April 2008, I bought my first Corolla LE from Brent Brown Toyota in Provo/Orem and I bought my second Corolla LE from Karl Malone in Draper in October 2008. Since we moved to Sandy in 2010, I have taken both cars to Karl Malone in Draper for all standard maintenance, including registration for the State DMV.I did pay extra to have Landcar coverage on the one I bought from Karl Malone. I have been pleased with all service from the Karl Malone facility on both cars, except that after they replaced the belt on my Karl Malone car, the belt squeals (belt slips) for a second when I start it cold. It doesn't squeal upon starting up after I've driven somewhere, it only squeals when I first start it cold after it has sat overnight or something. I plan to talk to them about it during my next 5,000 mile service. Also, I have had to remind them each time that I have Landcar maintenance coverage each time, so they don't charge me for the regular service. Despite this, every service I've had done on either car has been great. I feel that they treat me with great professionalism and respect. The service personnel always let me know if they find an issue, so I can decide to have the extra work done to keep my car in the best of shape.Anytime the service might take a while, I take their free shuttle back home until my car is ready.

If I can give ZERO stars I would, this was probably the worst car buying experience I ever had. So I was getting quotes from multiple toyota dealerships then, STEVE ANDAS (Internet Sales Manager @ Karl Malone) called me and gave me what seemed to be the best deal compared to all other dealerships. He told me a price 'out of the door' and then asked me to drive down to Draper. I of course asked him to valid his quote in written (do this or else they will pull out a switcharoo on you) which he refused back and forth, then finally at my insistence I got him commit his quote on written. Everything seem fine we agree on the price, all I had to do is go down to the dealership and pick it up with the written on paper (email), half way (20 min drive) to the place STEVE ANDAS called me and said 'Oh, guess what? My manager can't approve the price I gave you in written'. Really, I should sue you and your dealership for false advertisement and bad customer service. Get a life and stop wasting buyers time. Moral of the story: DO NOT BUY FROM THEM, NOT EVEN IF YOU GET A WRITTEN QUOTE. LIKELY THEY WILL WASTE YOUR TIME DRIVING DOWN AND FOOL YOU.

Too bad you can't give 0 stars...

Too bad you can't give 0 stars!

Watch out for Jeff Robinett- Sales and Ti Dyphibane- Finance at Karl Malone Toyota. Jeff Robinett and Ti Dyphibane will team up to create a misleading and unethical transaction take place. I CANNOT think of an experience worse than dealing with Jeff Robinett and Ti Dyphibane from Karl Malone Toyota.

I went in with my girlfriend to visit with Jeff Robinett to talk about a Toyota Tacoma that she wanted. She had put a $1000 on a truck to get it down to the dealership in Draper, Utah. As a first time car buyer with exceptional credit he had a contract in hand explaining the gift of a 7.99% interest rate (with a $10000 down payment). Jeff explained that this was "a gift" and the Warren Buffet's of Karl Malone Toyota were "the only ones in the world that could pull this off."

When I questioned the 7.99% APR and said it was high, to which Jeff agreed it was, Jeff Robinett went into divide and conquer mode. He immediately went on the attack with me and used all the dishonest sales tactics available. He tried to flatter my girlfriend and say that he trusted her and why should she not trust him. I became thoroughly disgusted with Jeff's behavior and when I told my girlfriend not to sign anything Jeff asked me what my problem was and implied I was a bad person or a jerk and was somehow trying to make myself look good... all the while destroying the deal of the century for my girlfriend.

While my girlfriend continued to talk with Jeff Robinett I couldn't take any more of his blatant lies and walked out. He was just trying to pit me Vs her to get this sale. I could not deal with the totally unprofessional and unethical behavior. Luckily my girlfriend did not sign anything... although he made sure to have all the papers on the desk immediately when we looked at the car.

We found a great late model used Tacoma at a good price at Mark Miller Subaru. The sales staff was very professional and listened to all of our concerns. There were no high-pressure sales tactics and the staff evaluated many financing options. Not only did we do better than 7.99% but instead got a 2.84% APR loan.

Jeff Robinett- YOU are the reason that salesmen get a bad name. In terms of predatory lending and lack of business ethics YOU are the face. Maybe I'll put your name up under the definition of "Predatory Lending" on Wikipedia- you deserve it!

Ti Dyphibane- YOU are a misleading, bullying, liar. You take advantage of people and are the main reason there are so many bad reviews of Karl Malone Toyota on the web. If your business model is to treat clients like garbage and lie and coerce- then you will reap what you sow. The internet is a powerful tool for potential clients.

Karl Malone- Do you not have any respect for your name? I had respect for you before but if you condone these disrespectful/ fraudulent practices at your namesake then you deserve NO respect. I would be ashamed to have these people as representatives of my business.

But in all seriousness Jeff Robinett, I truly think you are a deep down bad person. I wish you difficulties and sadness in your life so that you can experience what you put other people through. May God have mercy on your soul!

I went in looking for a new or...

I went in looking for a new or used Toyota Tacoma. After I told the sales guy (I think his name was Mike) what I wanted he insisted we go for a test drive. I had driven the exact truck at a different dealership only two days previous so I said I did not need to do another test drive, but was looking for a particular color and trim package. He insisted we go for a test drive "cause his boss would get mad at him if we didn't" so I went. After going two block and turning around we then went back in and sat down at his desk. That is when the pressure tactics started. "Sign this form so we know you are serious, it just means that if we find you the right car you will buy tonight." Really you want me to sign a form saying I agree to buy before we have even talked about price or trade-in value? Total pressure crap and that was only the start. He then took the keys to my 2002 Volvo XC70 that I wanted to trade and presented me with details on a truck with the right color but a trim package slightly different than what I wanted. When I asked about the differences, he had no knowledge of what a locking rear differential was or which package included it and had to go consult a manager. When it became clear that the options I wanted were in a different trim package, I asked what the price difference would be and the salesman said "a couple thousand dollars" That is not true. While he was in getting the keys for the test drive, which I did not want to take, I looked at several different stickers and the price difference was actually $590. He said $2,000 likely because he did not want to try to locate another truck with the options I wanted and wanted to pressure me to buy the truck he had already located. Then came back their initial trade in offer, $600. Now I know dealers don't give a lot for trades, but I purchased my Volvo for $3,900 6 months previous and had been watching prices for 3 months before that. $3900 was by far the lowest, way below blue book and CarFax lowest price. This offer was not only offensive, but a thinly veiled attempt to rip me off. So, I wised up, called the salesman out on his BS and asked for my keys back. He initially would not give them to me and said I should talk to his manager. The manager came out, but without my keys and asked if there was anything he could do. At this point I got angry about them holding my keys hostage and said the only thing he could do was get my keys or things would get ugly. He finally got them and I walked out. I will never return and will tell everyone I know to never ever under any circumstances go to Karl Malone Toyota for any reason.

Had a great experience

Reading the previous reviews I was skeptical but it was close to home so I gave it a go. It was super clean, staff was friendly and my repair was done when they said it would be. I'm scheduled to go back in for another repair and I'm not dreading it.

08/17/2011

not sure

Looking to buy a new car but after reading the reviews don't think I want to buy one here. We bought our first car from Karl Malone and felt like games were played with us too. Where can a person go to find an HONEST car dealer. Maybe none exist. It is so sad to think they can't be honest and straight up with people. Their reward would be that people would come back to buy their next car and word of mouth would be that they were honest in their dealing and not a bunch of crooks looking to make extra bucks off of people.

Smart guys to play tricks on price

They said $43000 is outof door price and gave us option to pay $2000 or $4000 as downpayment. We paid $4000 for showing our faith and signed the contract in a hurry (they ask customers to sign the contract in a hurry when customer feel very tied due to longtime waiting, one of my frind had same experience), Later We found the contract didn't match what they promised, the outofdoor price is $43000 only after we pay $4000, that means the actual out of door paice is $47000. When they give option 2000 or 4000 bucks for downpayment, they didn't mention that if we pay other amout like 2000 bucks, we cannot get 43000 price), this 4000 bucks is cashcredit instead of downpayment . See how smart they are to play the game. We went back to discuss the issue, the manager said they had no duty for any clarificaiton. All resopnsibilites go to customer,They didn't care what they promised berfore becuase we signd the contract no matter it is right or not. Hope no one be cheated by them anymore.

I question their service people's product knowledge??

I have a new Camry from KM Toyota. I could not get my MP3 player to interface with the car's Audio system. I phoned KM's service to ask someone to help me. They needed to see it ... "Bring it in," I was told. I did. 1 hour later the service guy told me the problem was with the MP3 player. Counting driving time, 2.5 hours wasted.A guy at Radio Shack told me on the phone to connect the Audio output to the car's audio input jack (30 seconds). I bought a Radio Shack cable .... problem solved. Why don't Karl Malone Toyota service people know their product? You'd think they would hire or train someone to be knowledgable.FWIW, I like my Toyota Camry Hybrid a lot. It's a Great car!
