This is one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. The food is always really good. They're chicken marsala is the best! The homemade spaghetti is really good too. The service is good. Some nights of the week they have live music entertainment. They have a really good piano player who plays a good variety of older & current music. I've recommended La Scala to many people and I'm sure I will continue to.

I absolutely love LaScala. I clearly have had a different experience than the previous poster and I have had lunch there several times. I am not one of the "older" crowd nor do I have any recollection before the two or three years that my office has been dining there on a (mostly) weekly basis. There is no place in town that serves consistently good food that is hot and ready to go for under $10.00. The buffet always has two different soups, pasta, two or three main dishes, numerous salads and dessert. We have never had a "disinterested" server. In fact, initially, it was the staff that kept us coming back. The lunch crew seems to know everyone by name and my experience has been watching some of the long-termers talking to regulars, asking about their families and taking great care to make sure that they are taken care of. If I were pressured into finding any fault, it would be that on two or three occasions, my soup was not super-hot the way that I like it; my server has ALWAYS promptly taken care of it and seemed happy to do so. The food changes daily and, unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a system for knowing what you will get on any given day. Fortunately, it is all delicious with homemade sauces and meatballs (that are always on the buffet!) and plenty of options for the two vegetarians in our group. The food is replenished every time it gets low and there have been times where the restaurant is so busy that the dish actually changes before we go for seconds. A couple of times we have had to wait five or ten minutes for a table but it is totally worth the wait. I say two very enthusiastic thumbs up! =)

la scala is la disappointment

Went for a business lunch on a Tuesday for the buffet. The buffet ($8.45) consisted of a 12x12 pan of lasagna which looked played in, pasta reminiscent of Rax (remember the pasta bar?), a large pan of some sort of ravioli, and a pan of peppers and mystery meat. Needless to say I ordered from the menu. In truth, the experience would have been better if I hadn't been seated in the area with skylights. I could see the heavily stained carpets, chipped and gauged walls, flaking paint, and the chipped, busted up chairs and serving dishes. My lasagna (from the menu) was severed in a large bowl with two large chips in the side. Preceding the meal was a salad of pathetic iceberg drenched in oil and a couple tomato wedges. That's all... No flavor, just grease. The server was an uninterested older woman who I was glad to depart from. Clientele consisted of an older crowd who, I assume, remember classier times for the rundown bistro. Sadly, not a place I will return or recommend. One star for the Stouffers-like lasagna.
