Helpful Over the Phone, Fair Return Policy

I think it's unfair to slam a store based on a fair return policy; I've had retail jobs in the past and due to shoplifting being a major issue, many places explicitly state they do not accept returns without a receipt, especially higher end stores. I returned 2 unopened DVDs with a receipt and no hassle or questions whatsoever at this TRU. What I find good about this particular TRU is that they are very helpful on the phone when you wish to find out if an item is in stock. With high gas prices, it's wonderful that they take the time to check for an item, and depending on the item, may even hold it at the service desk for pick-up if it's not something desperately in demand. If you call, you must understand that you may wait a bit for the clerk, as with most retailers, customers in the store normally take priority. But they do make an effort to find your item, even if not all the clerks are as well-informed as others (which means you should always give the operator as much detail as possible so they may check for the item!). I've shopped at this TRU since the late 1980's and although there are times where I've had a bad egg clerk, overall, this is a decent place to shop for toys that you may not find at big box dept. stores. They carry exclusives, also. With the downturn in the economy, the selection is not as vast as 25 years ago, but still, at least during the off-holiday season, you can find items here that big box dept. stores will only stock during the holiday. My thought on shopping for toys--expect to check several different retailers to get everything you want--not a difficult task given the ideal location of this TRU in relation to competitors. Honestly, the competition is a good thing; when all the book/CD/DVD stores starting closing in Columbus, I noticed Best Buy (about the only game left in town except the overpriced f.y.e.) started having a much worse selection of items. I think the competition spurs TRU to try to offer things that others don't have in order to stay in the game. The Pokemon DS download events are awesome, too!
