Visited Dubuque for the first time ever for a friend’s wedding and stayed at the Jokelien with the rest of the wedding guests. I would never recommend that anyone stay at this hotel. The service is terrible. And I mean terrible. Our room wasn’t ready. The wedding transportation was leaving in 45 minutes and the hotel manager told me to get dressed in the bathroom while charging my credit card for the full amount. Nearly everyone checking in on Saturday was told they would have to wait, some for 4 hours to get a room. Fast forward 6 hours later. Wedding was great and we are back for the after party at the hotel. We wanted to go check out the hotel bar. They wouldn’t let me in because my boyfriend and I were together and only brought one key with us, which can not be abnormal. Meanwhile there are people walking in from the street and not being hassled…I am a paying guest and am not allowed in the bar. After 10 minutes of arguing with the bouncer at a near empty bar, I left.
