I bought a 2001 BMW here. Michael Rodriguez, the owner, promised to get a current emissions check on the car, as required by Georgia law. I called him the day we were going to pick up the car and he said he'd have it done before we got there. When we got there at 5pm, he was on his way out in the car to go do the emissions check right up the street. 45 minutes later, he comes back and says they were too busy, and that we'd go ahead and do the paperwork, and then run up afterwards. After the paperwork, he says for me just go up the street and get the emission check done. He said that they knew we were coming, and that he has an account with them. When we get there, they'd been closed for an hour. On the way home, the check engine light comes on. The next day, I speak to Michael about it, and he says he'll take care of it. Keep in mind that with a check engine light coming on, it won't pass emissions.



So he puts me off for three days (his mechanic is supposedly out of town), but we finally meet up. He takes me over to his mechanic, introduces me to the guy, then leaves. They do the work (replace the camshaft position sensor), and then the mechanic tells me that Michael told him I'd pay for it. Moreover, the mechanic tells me that Michael knew about the check engine light being on over a month before he sold me the car.



When I talked to Michael, of course he refused to pay the mechanic, so it was left on me. Luckily, I had some cash on me, because the mechanic wasn't able to accept a credit card.



Michael ran a scam on me pure and simple. He lied to me repeatedly. He knew full well that the car wouldn't pass emission, and he sold it to me anyway. He comes off as a really nice guy, but he's willing to screw over a customer (we were going to buy a van next month) over a $119 mechanic's bill. The mechanic wasn't surprised since Michael apparently has a reputation for this kind of stuff.



Do NOT trust these people. They seem like a nice family run operation (we got to meet his wife while he was out clearing the code), and they even have a Bible quote on the wall of their office. It's all for show. They just want to rip you off.
