Provided by YP.comroom filthy, needed total updating, smelly not as pictured, no 24 hour help. no phones in room, took credit card up front. charged for 3 nights only made it two and clerk refused to refund money saying she had to talk to the owner and offering bottle of wine. My charge is being disputed for the night I did not stay and was charged. Avoid. I I could not even give a star, that would be my rating.

Provided by YP.comThis is a "less is more" accommodation. If you just need a quiet place to think, walk the shore, read, get away, well, this will do nicely. If you are looking for a jacuzzi and a mini-bar and more, I'm sure you can find them elsewhere. When I arrived, I saw another woman who had a reservation and tried to chat her up, but she was not interested--she was on her annual vacation here and she was very interested in peace and quiet and that was great!
Cape Superior isn't a fancy motel. It's an older motel that has been gussied up. Don't go here if you want all the fancy stuff. It's clean, affordable, and directly faces Lake Superior between Duluth and Two Harbors. My room had a double bed, a shower, a t.v. and a microwave. It's got internet--gotta go ask for the password. My room was cute--nautical navy blue and white theme in a few furnishings. No smoke smell. Bare minimum in soaps and such. Very clean.
To talk to the management, you knock on a door, then wait. Very '50s.
There's a restaurant with a liquor license next door if you want food. And the motel itself has an adjacent liquor store, if that's important to you.

Provided by YP.comMyself and several friends stopped and stayed at this place. The Restaraunt next to this place is the old castle, but is no longer owned by the people who own the Cape Superior Inn. First, there is no parking lines in the parking lot of the inn, and as small as the driveway to the place is, parking our motorcycles as far as we could out of the way, still left them exposed to the dangerously close vehicle traffic using the driveway. All the rooms are no smoking, and when we went out on the poorly built wooden balcony area in front of our rooms, we were chastised by the manager for being too loud and for drinking. The water pressure during our showers was non-existant. During several of the showers, the water just stopped comming out of the showerhead for 3 or 4 minutes. The rooms look like they were furnished with Salvation Army thrift store items. The beds were small and uncomfortable, there are no telephones or air conditioners in any rooms for those of you wo may want them. The inn is a strip shaped block building with a poorly built and maintained catwalk to the second floor rooms. If you stayed at the local Motel 6 you would probably get a better value for your money and definately would be more satisfied with the accomodations.
Thank you for your critique, and sorry it's taken so long to post a response. We are going though a new management change with a commitment to respond to issues as quickly as possible. I'm sorry that you didn't have a satisfactory stay with us. You do have some valid points, the driveway is a bit confusing without stripes and we're working to rectify that. As a motorcyclist, I understand the need to keep you bike as far out of harms' way as possible. We do have ample parking in the back of the motel to keep your bike away from other traffic. Regarding the deck area, it is safe (but could use a new coat of stain). Since the motel is family-oriented, there is a certain amount of quiet time that we insist, so that all of our guests have a restful stay. We have also just installed a new, state of the art 110 gallon water heater. I'll be looking at installing new shower heads and seeing what we can do to increase water pressure in the rooms that need it. You are correct that none of the rooms have A/C, but we've seen that it would be rarely used, since we are right on the lake shore, and have a cool breeze. I encourage you to give us another chance. We'd love to have you stay with us!
