Glensheen Historic Estate is 5 mi. n. on SR 61 at 3300 London Rd. This was the 1908 estate of attorney, mining entrepreneur and state legislator Chester A. Congdon. The 7.7-acre property on Lake Superior includes formal gardens and a Jacobean mansion containing original furnishings. Carriages and sleighs are displayed in the carriage house. Visitors also can take an expanded tour of all five floors that covers an additional six bedrooms and provides background about the house's construction.
