The Arban tradition extends back to the late 1800s when the Arbans in Italy were among the first precasters using cast stone. In 1914 Arban received a patent for hollow core precast concrete panel design. Arban specialized in the fabrication of imitation marbles and precast terrazzo. The Arbans opened their first precast concrete plant in Alexandria, Va., during the 1930s. Mark Arban founded Arban Precast Stone in 1963. The company is a leader in the Mid-Atlantic States for architectural cast stone and precast concrete. Its cast stone resembles natural limestone and is more durable than natural stone. Cast stone can be customized to match existing color. The color is permanent and impervious to ultraviolet light. Cast stone can simulate natural stone, such as granite and sandstone. It is suited for modern and classical styles and can capture detail from a pattern or mold and replicate any shape carved from stone.
