I'm fairly new to the area and I went to Canine Clippers after being referred by a neighbor in my neighborhood who has the same breed of dog as I do. I called to make an appointment and that was a fairly simple process. I spoke to Scott, he was nice. I told him that I was in the market for a permanent groomer for my dog who is groomed usually every 4-6 weeks. I requested the same groomer as my neighbor. Scott asked the weight of my dog, I told him (6 pounds) and he advised that her haircut would be $65.00 and explained that the price is determined by the size of the dog. I was fine with the cost and scheduled the appointment. Fast forward to the day of the appointment, I arrived 25-30 minutes prior to my appointment. I was greeted by Scott who advised that the groomer was running late but would be in shortly. I filled out the routine paperwork and was then advised by Scott that a typical appointment can take about 4 hours but that I'd receive a phone call to pick my dog up. After running errands, it had been 5 hours. I hadn't received a call from Canine Clippers yet to pick up my dog. I called twice and the phone rang and went to voicemail. Assuming they were just busy, I proceeded to drive to Canine Clippers prepared to wait in the lobby if my dog wasn't ready. I arrived to what appeared to be an empty Canine Clippers. There was no greeter at the front desk, not other customers waiting and it was unusually quiet for a groomer (or maybe not since it was Tuesday). Minutes later one of the groomers who greeted me when I dropped off my dog came out of the restroom and asked who I was picking up. I told her and she disappeared behind the door into the work area. She came back out with a bill. She said "that'll be $70". When I asked about the $65.00 that I was originally quoted by Scott (the manager) she didn't answer. She then mentioned that she was locked out of the computer and then disappeared back into the back room work area. Once she returned she asked for the payment again. I asked again about the difference in price. She stated "I'm not sure why he told you $65.00 because a haircut is $70.00 and he's not here right now". Not wanting to make a fuss over $5.00, I accepted the charges...until I was handed a receipt to sign quoting $75.00 as the transaction amount. I asked about the difference in price and she stated that she rang me up by mistake and that I'd have to call the manager (Scott) to have him reverse the charges or they could apply the credit for the next appointment (next appointment?????). A little frustrated, I asked if my dog was ready. She advised that the dog has been ready for some time. I told her that I never received a phone call so I wasn't aware. She went to the back to get my dog then quickly came back out and gave me $5.00 cash and apologized for mischarging me stating "now you don't have to call Scott". The grooming manager (Jessica) brought my dog out. The first thing that I noticed was that my dog had pink and yellow bows in her hair. I asked if they could be changed to only pink as I originally requested. The manager apologized and was very nice. The grooming job was decent. My dog was sprayed with a very strong smelling deodorizer which makes us both sneeze as it's very strong. Her coat is soft but the smell is very overwhelming. Unfortunately, it was too many balls dropped on a first time visit for me to return or recommend to anyone else.
