We completed a major 6 month remodel in January, 2009. Of course it seemed like much longer than 6 months, but it was worth it. The end result turned out even better than we imagined.

After the General Contractor, Ralph was the first contractor we hired. By far that was our best decision. He was immediately available to meet and continued to be just as responsive throughout the project. From the beginning he was always ahead of schedule. Ralph did the all of our cabinets; kitchen, laundry and master bath. He also designed and built a beautiful fireplace mantle and surround with a built in entertainment/shelf unit. Everything is absolutely gorgeous. The most subdued response we’ve had from visitors is a big ‘WOW’! Most people gasp to some degree as soon as they walk in and see the kitchen.

His workmanship and attention to detail are unparalleled. Ralph was very patient and helpful when I was trying to visualize something. When I made changes at the last minute he obliged without hesitation and offered suggestions. He’s very humble about offering any advice, but he has a wealth of knowledge. He always assured me that I wasn’t the only one who asked so many questions and made sure I didn’t feel like a bother.

One quality set Ralph apart from everyone else who worked on our home. It was very important to him that we were satisfied and that we got whatever we wanted. It is often rare these days to find someone who truly values their customer as he does; Ralph is very appreciative. I actually miss talking with him; during the remodel we talked or e-mailed very regularly. We highly recommend him as an excellent craftsman and a conscientious person. There are more things still to do and we will surely call Ralph on all of them.

We were very pleased with the quality and craftmanship of our new kitchen cabinets. Ralph did an excellent job with the drawings and took plenty of time to discuss with us and find exactly the best configuration and features for our kitchen. He was very willing to work with our personal requirements for our unusual (100 year old) house.

I showed Ralph a magazine picture of a fireplace surround and mantel and he was able to build it for us exactly as shown--- I love it. The work was always done in a timely manner. Were were very pleased with everything he has done for us and will continue to call upon him. Today, it is not always easy to find skilled and honest people to work on your home---Higgins Cabinetry is a wonderful exception and we highly recommend them.

When my husband and I started thinking about remodeling the master bathroom in our contemporary Montecito Woods (Santa Rosa) home, we started out by interviewing cabinet makers because we knew remodeling projects pivot around cabinet installations. Plus we really wanted to find the right person, and, hopefully, test them out before we gave them the bigger job of doing the kitchen the following year. We had a general idea of how we wanted everything to look but needed someone to help us flesh out our ideas and fine tune some details for us. Ralph proved to the right choice. Here are some of the reasons we highly recommend Higgins Cabinetry for any cabinet fabrication or installation project:



* Ralph sat down with us at our first meeting where we tossed about our ideas for the project, he shared best practices, showed us examples of his work, wood samples/finishes (which helped us form new ideas for our own project) and in the end, really helped us understand the remodeling process. With this information, we felt empowered to subcontract out all our projects ourselves (instead of using a general contractor), saving us A LOT of money. Ralph is THAT knowledgable, organized, reliable and easy to work with.



* Ralph helped us design the layout of our kitchen and master bathroom cabinets (space designing) and provided detailed drawings of what cabinets would look like (and costs). He also worked with us as we made changes to the drawings. Work proceeded only once we knew what we were getting and exactly how much it would cost.



* Ralph helped us figure out how to stay within our budget yet still get everything we wanted in our cabinetry (all cherry, flush inset, top-of-the-line hardware) and provided us with better pricing than anyone else. He's not the cheapest (why would you want someone who is going to cut corners anyway?), but he's not the most expensive either. His pricing was somewhere in the middle and right on target for us.



* Ralph makes the cabinets and installs everything HIMSELF! So, he knows that when he measures it, it is going to fit and if it doesn't, he's going to take it back to his shop and do it over. (Of course, this never happended because Ralph is excellent with the tape measure ;-)



* Ralph is a stickler for finding the choices pieces of wood and making the finished product look absolutely stunning. We couldn't be happier with our beautiful cherry cabinetry. We love Ralph's work. He is a true professional -- a craftsman.



* Ralph did the demo for us (at a reasonable cost) and brought everything (all cabinet pieces) into our house all at once and installed everything in about two days for kitchen, and one day for the master bath. The very next day, the countertop installer came and they made their template. Ralph was fast, efficient, clean -- he just knows what he's doing and he does it right.



* Ralph helped us in so many little ways (i.e., Wolf stove was almost vented improperly but Ralph was over that day and saw what was happening and knew our appliance selection so well that he mentioned it to us, preventing the installer from cutting a hole in the wrong place!)



* Ralph is personable, friendly and someone who will bend over backward to keep a promise so that you receive the absolute best quality product possible. Ralph understands the concept of customer service.



* Ralph recommended highly reputable drywallers and countertop fabricators that he works with who also helped to keep our project on track.

My husband and I have used Higgins Cabinetry on two occasions. One was a large kitchen remodel project. Higgins Cabinetry helped give us the confidence to pursue our dream kitchen.



The thoughtfulness of their design and the expert craftsmanship was something that is very hard to find these days. And the most amazing thing was the pricing was equal to those stock cabinets that one sees in those kitchen design showrooms, only we got something customized to our way of living.



At the end of everyday the remodel area was cleaned, the workmanship was perfect and the attitude on the job was amazingly pleasant.



The ideas that Higgins Cabinetry came up with during our project were well thought out. And those ideas have been part of what we like about our kitchen even years after the project has been completed..
