I have been taking my Lab and Beagle to DUNNELLON ANIMAL HOSPITAL for 11 years. They never would take payments. I think now that Dr. Mack has sold the Business they appear to be much friendlier, work with you the best way possible! I am thankful for the Staff and Love Dr. Ashley Adams and my dogs do too! I think those who are unhappy in your reviews should see the Big Change. A happy Customer!

We just adopted a dog and his previous check up was 9/6/2016 at Dunnellon Animal Hospital. He is out of heartgard and vet nearby our home was full booked till next month so i called them and asked if they were able to approve the prescription that i could order online since my dog is recent visited them not long ago. They suggested us to bring him in their office but we are far away so we are kindly asked if they are able approve till we bring the dog in later. Instead of upfront said that they can't do it, they told us no problem and we placed an order. Couple days later californiapetpharmacy email us and said that they declined the approval. According to their records, they do not have a client by the name I listed. Wow i still have invoice of their service

But anyway we found a better vet care near us fit him right in within 15 minutes

It is not a place i would like to bring my pet in any longer

We've been going here for 10 years with no complaints at all. Our dogs had all the care and love possible. Now that Dr. Mack has sold the business and Dr. Hendricks has move on, the business is nothing more than an over booked understaffed less than run of the mill veterinary hospital, with no compassion for the animals. We're never going back. Our dogs mean much more to us than taking chances with their health.

If I could give zero stars I would. At quarter to one am this morning I happened across a critically injured feline. I called Dunnellon animal hospital and had no idea my call was being automatically transferred to an Ocala vet. I explained to the woman who answered what had happened and she was clear I'd have to to cover the vet costs to save it's life... Fine. My one question and I'm quoting myself "if I leave now will their be someone at Dunnellon in 15 minutes to meet me?" the woman answered and I'm quoting again "yes". I made it to Dunnellon with this dying cat in my lap in record time... But alas their was no one their. She'd let me go to the wrong location and this poor animal died in my arms in the dark with a stranger sobbing over it helpless to relieve it's pain. When I called Dunnellon today to vent my frustration with whom they've put their trust in to handle after hours emergencies all I got was excuses. Not even an apology from Cheryl Mack. They accepted no responsibility. I will never, ever use this vet again. Countryside from now on.

I have been taking my kids there for over 2 years and my daughter for over 4 years. I to agree that the Dr's are good I have become very concerned over the care verses the bottom line. They are in business to make money, and I understand that, but they have posted in every exam room that they do not want to cause a financial hard ship they will stop treatment when it gets to the point that you can not afford further treatment. I asked if I brought my pet in with a broken leg, you take exrays and that ends up over the funds i have does that mean you will not set it ? or cast it ? I got no answer. I asked if I could get a script because i could not afford to pay their $28.00 charge for a antibiotic that I can get filled for $4.00 at wal-mart. they gave me a fit. I have asked several times for scripts and I am given a hard time. I don't pay full price for my own meds. I was told this is why we carry these medications for you to buy them from us. money.. money.. money... Not the well being of the animal nor the understanding of the owners and their trying to make ends meet....again the Dr's are good but I found another Vet that will work with you , and your pet comes first not the almighty dollar. And with all my research there ratings were nothing but 5's with more reviews than Dunnellon.

Do not ever take your animals to this place. They are the worst. We brought our dog in for surgery to remove several fatty deposits around its neck ear and his leg. According to them the surgery went well. There was no indication of any problems; however we had to bring him back because the wound on his back leg was swollen. The leg got worse and we had to bring him back again for repair and insertion of a drain. We were supposed to pick up our pet that evening and we were told that they prefer him staying at the facility because of the drain. Two days later the wound turn for the worse. We were told that he vomited several times and told us that he aspirated vomit and send him home so that he is not so stressed out. Upon his discharge, we were told that he may have ingested vomit; otherwise he is doing okay and their comments were that they try and force feed him and give him liquid and drain the wound. Not once did they mentioned to us the seriousness of our pet's condition only that he may have ingested vomit. no x-rays were ordered, neither did they suggested that the pet needed 24 hour care at an emergency clinic. When we called the following day we were told them about our pet's labor breathing and they told us that there is nothing to be concerned about and to continue with his medication and drain the wound. Our pet's condition worsened that evening. We were forced to take him to an emergency clinic that evening. The vet at the emergency clinic was shocked when she learned that they did not offer to take x-rays when they realized that the pet may have ingested vomit. The doctor at the emergency clinic tried his best - our pet had to stay overnight and passed away the following day. It was very heartbroken that these people at Dunnellon Animal Hospital sent him home to die. If they could not take care of him, they should have advised us that we should get immediate care at a different facility. We trusted that they would be providing him round-the clock care seeing that they wanted him at the hospital and make sure that proper care is taken in draining the wound. We expressed to them that he was lethargic, depressed and could not keep food down. He was wheezing and could not breathe well but they never mentioned once to seek emergency care. The vomit not only severely inhibited our pet's breathing contributed to a severely inflamed incision on his right leg. Therefore, our loving pet passed away due to pneumonia. If they told us the seriousness of our pet's condition, we could have probably saved his life by taking him to a different vet. It has been almost three years, and I am still very upset about the way Dr. Bailey and her staff handled our pet's condition. We had to incur extra expenses to take him to an emergency hospital. We wrote a letter to them, doctor did not respond. I know we are all human, but negligence as this to me is intolerable.

I have been using Dunnellon Animal Hospital since moving to the area in 2005. They have always been very caring and, while it may not be our dogs favorite place to go, they also don't object too much!! Seriously, all the staff and doctors are friendly and helpful, and most importantly, really care about the animals!!

Dr Hendrix is a fantastic vet. The first time I took any of my dogs to this practice, I had an emergenty at 12:45 AM on a Sunday morning. Dr Hendrix met me there in 15 minutes and on Monday morning. He provides excellent care and you can tell he really cares about his patients! The office staff is good. This practice is SUPER busy, because they are good. Schedule your appointments early and you will be in and out quickly. I recommend without hesitation.

Everything is positive about DA Hospital. Caring, dedicated care givers. Annie enjoys visiting - it is a "tail wagging" kind of loving.
