The dealership told me my back brake pads were down to 2 mm which, at 20,000 miles, didn't make sense, except they were trying to push an unneeded service on me. I wanted an independent opinion as soon as possible, so I called around and a couple of places couldn't take me until the middle of the following week, but Seth at Gould's told me I could bring it in the same afternoon. He took the car in right away, had a mechanic pull the wheels and look at the pads, and as the mechanic put it, the "stealership" was just trying to sell something not needed. He explained, using a visual aid, how the pads are by design thinner on my car, and no, I did not need new pads. I was happy to pay for the inspection, but picture my surprise when Seth said there was no charge for it. Needless to say, I was very pleased with the service, courtesy, and competence shown me, and I highly recommend Gould's as an honest and competent auto repair shop.
