Opened in 2002, Kanki Japanese House of Steaks features a showcase sushi bar, hibachi-style teppanyaki tables and a 1,700-gallon aquarium on the entire East Coast. The restaurant s menu includes a variety of entrees, appetizers and desserts. Additionally, its specialties include smoked salmon, shrimp tempura, scallops, boiled octopus, fresh yellowtail and white tuna. It has private dining rooms for birthdays, anniversaries, rehearsal dinners, wedding parties, bridal showers and business dinners, which can accommodate up to 45 people. The restaurant, in addition, offers gift certificates of several denominations for various occasions. Kanki Japanese House of Steaks is located in Durham, N.C., and provides catering services.

I have not been in a long time.. It was a special night for my grand daughter. Wait time was only 30 minutes long... Our cook.. I believe his name was Marco.. was really great.. Our waiter, Jaylin, was borderline surly....It seemed he could barely tolerate waiting on us. Marco entertained us and cooked our food to perfection. As soon as he finished we were handed our bills and take out boxes... I still had a full plate of food and was not really given the chance to finish it... Herded us right out the door.. I don't think I will be going back....

Not always a good show...

Let's face it, the food is good but you go for the show (Benihanna style). Problem is the chefs are not always up or talented... and don't you hate it when the other table is ooohing and ahhing while your guy is just going through the motions? No show & it is too expensive, w/a good show it can be a great evening.
