I must say that I was truly disappointed with American since when I spoke to the owner, I mentioned that his pamphlet was quite misleading. He looked at me straight-faced and said essentially 'what do you mean?' I explained that his trailers were incredibly different from what was depicted in the brochure and he disagreed. I was amazed: He had to have known, unless he was blind, could not smell, and was totally hands-off regarding his business. I must say that I did not see all of his inventory and cannot comment on what was in the field, just only on what I saw and how the interaction with them went.

I went to Long Island Mobile Home after going to American Mobile Homes. WOW! What a difference! I Iooked at each of their trailers they each had on their lots. American's looked like it had gone through a frat party: Broken appliances, smelly overall, and nasty looking kitchens. The bedrooms looked like bathrooms with white plastic walls. When I went to LI Mobile Home, their homes were in much better condition. to boot, as I walked through their inventory, there was a woman in the homes cleaning them. Their appliances looked in great condition and the furniture was absolutely acceptable. We did not use the furniture so I cannot attest to how it performs, just that it looked pretty good. We ended up getting a trailer from LI mobile Homes and have so far been satisfied. They have worked withour insurance company and are experienced with dealing with them - accepting payment directly. We will see how the rest of our interaction goes with them.
