Established in 1969, the Area Special Education Cooperative provides a range specialized services for children. Also known as ASEC, it is a cooperative of more than 10 school districts in northwestern Minnesota. The Area Special Education Cooperative provides technical assistance, counseling, crisis intervention and personnel development services. The cooperative is responsible for early childhood special education programming and assessment for special education solutions. It offers physical and occupational therapy services and maintains a library. The Area Special Education Cooperative also arranges transportation for several destinations. The cooperative provides a range of training opportunities and third-party billing solutions.
