My husband is a mechanic and had just changed the drum and brake shoes on the rear of my vehicle. I had driven out to East Longmeadow with my daughter (which is 20 minutes from my home) and when I arrived, my rear tire was smoking. I went in to this establishment and spoke with a woman and asked if someone could please loosen up my brakes because apparently my husband had tightened them a little too much. I had no problem paying but I didn't want to drive it home that way. She went to speak with the owner who had been up front but had gone into the back and then she came and spoke with a mechanic. She came back to me and told me it was the calipers. I tried to explain it wasn't the calipers, the brake just needed to be loosened and she told me not to drive it and I could leave it and they would look at it when they had a chance sometime the next day. I explained I knew it just needed to be loosened but she did not agree and wouldn't even get anyone for me to talk to. Not once did she ask anything about my vehicle. Not once did a mechanic come and ask me any questions and it was at least 25 minutes before closing. I called my husband and had him come 20 minutes out to East Longmeadow since the employees of Hawley's couldn't and wouldn't take any time to speak to me as a person nor take 5 minutes of their time (which is what it took to loosen the brake) to help me out. I wasn't looking for them to do this for free, which is what I had said. I come from a family of mechanics (unfortunately all of them were 20 minutes to a half an hour away) so I knew what I was talking about. Maybe if they had taken the time to talk to me, they would have known that because apparently, it wasn't the calipers, which is what I said!
