Located in East Meadow, N.Y., McVey Elementary School offers educational services to students in kindergarten through grade five. Established in 1950, it enrolls more than 750 children who are taught by a staff of over 70 teachers and paraprofessionals. The school offers classes in several subjects, such as math, science, social studies, language arts, and computer and technology. Its teachers use various innovative instruction methods, including word scrambles, vocabulary quizzes, flashcards, and worksheets and puzzles. McVey Elementary School also offers an after- and before-school program called SCOPE for the children of working parents. The campus is a part of the East Meadow School District, which was founded in 1814 and serves nearly 8,000 students.
