The Mothers' Center of Southwest Nassau, Inc. is a non-profit nonsectarian organization of mothers helping mothers. They hold discussion groups for mothers to support mothers in the local community. Located in the Bethany Congregational Church, 100 Main St., East Rockaway, NY, members are from towns in southwest Nassau, including: East Rockaway, Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, Island Park, Long Beach, Baldwin, and Hewlett. Discussion groups focus on the transition to motherhood and expectations vs. reality. On site child care is provided during the groups. Sharing experiences provides mothers with [therapeutic] support and helps to reduce the isolation experienced by new mothers. The Mothers' Center is a member of the National Association of Mothers' Centers (NAMC). Additionally, the Mothers' Center maintains a full time Nursery School with programs for 2-, 3-, and 4-year-olds. I have been a member since my children were babies and I cherish the confidential non-judgmental atmosphere.
