My family evacuated for the first time in my life as Hurricane Gustav headed straight for us in Terrebonne Parish. We decided leave so fast I did not have time to make reservations and refussed to have my 15 yr old pomarainian put in a kennel to be evacuated to god knows where. He is not in the best of health. I left with thought that hotels, espically this less expensive one, will take in the pets in an evacuation situation. I was wrong and they are not all polite either. We headed to the east and found Mississippi evacuating also. We found a few places to stay but they refuse to let us stay with my small pet, not even long enough to rest, they suggested I keep him in the truck. He would have died. After driving for 36 hours, we arrived at this hotel now called America Best. When I asked about taking in my small dog they were very willing to let him stay with us. They told me they don't let big pets in the rooms but do try to help get cared for. The rooms are very clean and well taken care of, and so are the guest. From the owner to the housekeepping they were all so willing to make us comfortable. This a place with a heart. The manager and employees understands the phrase, helping a neighbor. I was a bit suprised at the price of the room being as low as it was and the rooms being so well kept and allowing my pet. I could not find anything wrong with the room, not in the corners. I would to once again thank this hotel for all the comfort they gave us. I personally rate this place a for 4 star with a heart.
