Opnext is a new company with a long history. Formed from the resources of the Fiber Optic Components Business Unit at Hitachi to supply optical devices for information and industry, Opnext was established in September 2000. Funded by the Clarity Group, Opnext builds on three decades of advanced Hitachi technology and enjoys the full support of Hitachi's fiber optic business including research and development efforts from its central research laboratory, mechanical engineering research laboratory and production engineering research laboratory. The company s products include transceivers and transponders, laser diode modules and TOSAs, receiver modules and ROSAs, transmitter and receiver modules and chip-level products. Opnext is comprised of four business units: optical devices, optical modules, pluggable modules and optical subsystems. Opnext maintains its headquarters in Eatontown, N.J. with additional offices in Fremont, Calif., Orange City, Fla., three offices in Japan, a sales office in Shanghai and a European office in Munchen, Germany.
