Established in 1948, the Edgewater Fire-Rescue Department is administered by the city government of Edgewater in Florida. It responds to fire incidents and provides advance life support services. The department serves the community during emergency and nonemergency situations. Its fleet consists of fire engines that are equipped with a mobile data computer with GPS and automated vehicle locators. The Edgewater Fire-Rescue Department also provides vehicle extrication, hazardous materials response and confined space rescue services. The department conducts cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes for lay rescuers, security guards, police officers and child care service providers. Its part, the Edgewater Fire-Rescue Association, supports the department during emergencies and disasters. In addition, the Edgewater Fire-Rescue Department coordinates the Vial of L.I.F.E. program, which includes life-saving medical information for emergency service personnel.
