This is such a great place to eat. Sunday you may wait as they are packed. Best breakfast burrito in NM! Best GCCB in NM IMHO!
Ask for the Bodacious Burger with Green Chile! The staff is famous, and very attentive even though it's a busy place. A NM treasure! Pay no mind to the old (7-10 year) old reviews, the place is great now. Been going for 5 years. I will be back!

Let me start by saying I don't normally do this, and it really takes a lot to get me to this point. We have been going to Katrina's East Mountain Grill out here in Edgewood for 3 years. It is, hands down, the restaurant we go to in the east mountains the most. The food is fantastic, the wait staff is amazing, and up until recently we had never had a problem. Until today.

We took our friend Fernando out there. It was his first time, and we had been talking about a Bodacious Burger all day long, so when it came time to eat, we went to Katrina's. We all ordered; he ordered a Bodacious and chili-cheese fries. Half way through his chili-cheese fries he finds a long white hair. Fernando, by the way, has a buzz-cut. He drops the hair to the floor. We insist that he tell them, just to give them a heads up. Our waitress was busy, so he changes gears and starts eating his burger. Not one bite from the end, he finds a hair in that, too; again, a long, white hair. This one makes him gag, so he goes to the bathroom and spits out the bite and flushes it.

By that point our waitress comes back. We explain about the hair; she apologizes and goes to the back to see what they'll do. She comes back out and says that unless we can produce the hair, they will do nothing. So we start looking for the hair, but people have gone by, so it's no where to be found.

Now the cook/manager comes out. He already has attitude, but he asks us if there's a problem. We tell him that Fernando found two hairs. He immediately starts accusing us of trying to get a free meal, or more food. He says he wants to see the hair; we tell him we can't find the one, and the other has been flushed. He reiterates that without the hair, he'll do nothing, and that since Fernando was halfway through, it looks like he was just trying to get a free meal.

Then Kathy, the owner, comes out. She asks if she can help us with anything; we explain about the hair. She asks to see the hair; we explain that we can't find the first and the second has been flushed. She stands by her cook; they will do nothing if we can't produce the hair, and oh by the way, we seem to be scamming them out of a meal. We tell her we've been coming for three years and have never had a complaint; we just wanted to let them know that there was hair in his food. No hair= no proof.

I get it: there are bad people out there who will try to scam a meal. We've never done that! We bring people there all the time. Hell, when my best friend came out to visit, we took her there that night. My brother and his friends come up all the time for the Bodacious. We're not looking for a free meal, we just wanted to let them know that there is hair in their food. Yes, they took the meal off the ticket, but against our protests, because WE DIDN'T WANT A FREE MEAL! We just wanted them to know that there was hair in their food!

What made it even worse was that our poor waitress had obviously been yelled at. She came out while the cook/manager, and tried to defend us, but she was basically in tears. Then, when we went to check out, she was about to cry, and begged us not to say anything too loudly, or she'd get in trouble. As we left, the cook/manager stood there, by her, obviously waiting to say something else.

I'm horrified! What kind of place treats their wait staff like that? Furthermore, we'd been going there regularly for three years. Neither the cook/manager, nor Kathy were polite about what was happening. Both were incredibly rude. There was no reason for that; they weren't packed, and we had a legit concern.

We will never return.

Great hometown restaurant

My family and I eat here at least once a week. Our kids (16, 20, 22) come here by choice on their own. We have been served quickly, and coffee cups always stay full. Our favorite is breakfast, from the Firemans plate to the breakfast burrito, Indian Taco, Giros, the itty bitty menu, we have tried most items and haven't found one we don't like.

They are very friendly, and really care.

Great menu and service

Menu is reflective of the wonderful service and it is flexible to individual tastes. Try the specials definitely the best way to go. Love their soups and always find it difficult to decide what to have off the varied menu items. Each meal I have had has been tasty.

Avoid the East Mountain Grill

I was recently a customer at the East Mountain Grill. Walking inside creates the impression of a friendly, small town restaurant, looks are deceiving.

My party consisted of three people. There was four other tables with customers that were eating.

Within ten minutes a waitress took our order.

We ordered two lattes, and a cup of black coffee, a breakfast burrito, and two orders of pancakes. Not a difficult order by any stretch of the imagination.

Shortly thereafter another party of three walked into the restaurant, and was seated, and ordered.

After 20 minutes we received our coffee, and inquired of our food would be ready soon. The waitress assured us it would be just a few minutes.

A few minutes later the waitress brought the order of food to the party that had come in and was seated after us.

Another 20 minutess goes by, and still no food.

I could understand a long wait time in a busy place, and if we had a difficult order. Again, we ordered pancakes, and a breakfast burrito.

We ask again if our food will be ready soon because we had been there for close to an hour, and the wait was a tad unreasonable.

Ten more minutes go by, and finally our food was brought out.

Our cold food I might add. Cold pancakes, and breakfast burrito, not that tasty.

Cant say I am a fan of this place, and will go back again.
