OUR EXPERIENCE WAS OUTSTANDING with PHILIP M MURPHY / CHIMNEY REPAIR EXTRAORDINAIRE AND HIS ASSOCIATES.  THEY ARE FAST, EFFICIENT AND CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES.  THERE IS NO DOUBT, PHILIP M MURPHY & ASSOCIATES IS THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOUR FIREPLACE / CHIMNEY REPAIR!!!!  
Philip Murphy and his crew completed EXTENSIVE REPAIRS on our chimneys.  They did an OUTSTANDING job and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to anyone needing work done on their chimney.  We have a split level home with one fireplace/chimney upstairs and also one downstairs in our family room.  We had a damper that would not open up all the way and would not close completely, as it was broken and rusted out.  The rain water was coming down the chimney into our upstairs living room.  The brick was saturated from outside to the inside of the whole chimney (from top of the chimney to the bottom).  I was afraid we were going to have to replace both fireplaces, having them rebuilt from the ground up.  The downstairs fireplace had not been used in years, as the last fire we had in it, smoke was pushing through the fissures in the mortar between the bricks as the smoke rose up the chimney.  Upstairs chimney had not had any fires, as they smoke would keep backing up into the house even thought the damper was open/or so we thought.  A year ago, we had a few estimates from other chimney repair companies, but they were negative in what they would do for us and stated we would have to do some of the work for ourselves before they would even consider working on our chimneys and the cost would be great.  We put off the repairs due to the response we received from these other companies.  I started doing research on chimney repair and came across Philip M Murphy on possibly Angie's list.  There were several reviews/recommendations about Philip and his business.  I called his number and his answering service stated I would hear back that same day.  I did hear back from Philip as promised and set a date for him to come inspect our chimneys and provide a written estimate.  He came onsite and brought one of his associates, who both evaluated the issues with my chimneys.  PHILIP AND HIS ASSOCIATE ARE WELL SEASONED/EXPERIENCED ON CHIMNEY WORK AND A MASTER OF THEIR CRAFT.  Philip provided a detailed estimate of the work, Phase 1, the repairs of the chimneys and the replacement of the damper in the upstairs fireplace.  The brick had to be dried out prior to phase 2 being started.  Phase 2 consisted of cleaning the chimneys, sealing the bricks inside and outside of the chimney.   THANK YOU AGAIN, PHILIP AND YOUR ASSOCIATES FOR REPAIRING AND RESOLVING ALL THE ISSUES WITH OUR FIREPLACES.  YOUR COMPANY ROCKS!!!

Murphey repaired our brick chimney and gave me sound advice on our furnace/chimney situation as well. He did a thorough job of cleaning up as well...Highly recommended...

November 18 2009Philip Murphy and his partner fixed our leaking chimney earlier this month.In 6 years of living in our house, we have never used the fireplace because it has always leaked a little bit.We had thousands of dollars of work done on the chimney when we first moved here but our contractors who had a very good reputation were never able to find the source of the leak,and so we abandoned hope that we could ever use the fireplace.Earlier this month after a night of heavy rain,we woke up to find water on the floor in front of the fireplacce,i called Murphy, whose compagny i found in the phone book and he came out right away and put a tarp over the chimney as a temporary measure to stop the leak while it was still raining.I called Murphy and his partner came back and discovered another leakage:mislaid flashing that was underneath the chimney flashing.That was a good piece of dective work.Now our fireplace is a dry as a bone.We can have fires in it for the first time since we mov
