The Effingham Daily News has a long history of serving the residents within a seven-county area in south central Illinois. The newspaper was established in 1946 from the merger of four newspapers: the Effingham Daily Record, the Effingham Republican, the County Review and the Effingham Democrat. The Effingham Daily News is owned by Community Newspaper Holdings, an independent, privately owned publishing company. The company s group of newspapers includes daily, weekly and semiweekly newspapers along with shopper and specialty publications. Community Newspaper Holdings operates nearly 90 daily newspapers and approximately 210 non-daily publications in more than 200 communities throughout the United States. The Effingham Daily News is headquartered in Effingham, Ill.
