For years I would bounce back and forth between hairdressers and salons, sometimes travelling an hour to visit my aunt's salon. When I met one of my neighbors, I really liked her haircut and color and her hairdresser is actually her cousin (Amanda). So, I made an appointment with Amanda at 401 West and she's great. She's very fun, has a great personality, and although she's young (late twenties) she clearly knows what she's doing with a pair of scissors. Everyone in the salon is stylish, something I think is important because you want your salon to know what's in style. This salon is up-to-date on the latest products and trends in hair; I know because Amanda tells me she goes to seminars a few times a year. The salon is small but cozy and the prices are reasonable. Personally, especially in this economy, I don't need to walk into a super posh salon with stuck-up receptionists and cocky stylists who charge you 60 bucks for a haircut and only spend 10 minutes on you. I really like 401 and hope they don't morph into a mega salon. Oh, and another cool thing they do- When you make your appointment, you can give them your email and telephone number, they send you a reminder text the day before your appointment! It's awesome. Then you text YES to confirm. They're pretty good at making appointments, never had to wait long (if at all) and they don't seem to overbook. Great place please don't change a thing!
