The floor staff tend to be wonderfully helpful (maybe they get commission, but I don't care - they are great), the manager (owner?) however seems hassled, rude, and unhelpful. She took one look at my feet and said "oh, your feet aren't wide". Um, my feet are a C width. After 40+ years of living with these particular feet and now 8 pairs of the particular boots I was requesting I know that especially in Ariat boots I need a "wide", (a brand which runs narrow anyhow...). The boot barn in Clairmont was able to get the CORRECT size boots as an interstore transfer from Temecula in two days. Took a few minutes to do the calling, but both the floor guy AND the manager were genuinely cheerful, upbeat and helpful the entire time, and didn't act as if I, the customer, were an inconvenience to their day. I've had other friends who have had similar rude service from the manager in El Cajon and have vowed never to shop there again (a friend with a bad leg shopping for a cane was ignored standing at the counter for 20+ minutes while the salespeople were sent off by the manager in all directions).

The one thing the El Cajon store DOES do right is that they started carrying horse tack & care products when Petsmart discontinued their equine department, and they have a large store with lots of stock.

This Boot Barn has an excellent selection of Uggs and Aussie Dogs among so many other brands. They are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.
