This should have ZERO stars, o...

This should have ZERO stars, or a MINUS 5 stars! And know this, there are TWO Coronado car repair places with different owners: The one on Balboa is bad, the one on cloudview is cool. BALBOA BAD - CLOUDVIEW - COOL.

On 6/14/2011, We needed a rebuilt engine & I had priced some online, so when Julio called & told me it would be $1,200 plus about $1,000 in labor, I thought that was reasonable. Then 3 days later he said it would be $2,700 because of other things it needed to keep it cool, & hoses, & belts, but that there wasn't anything more we needed. I OK'ed that BUT I told him that we flat could NOT go over $3,000, that we really do live from paycheck to paycheck and that we had a second job in the summer that we were going to use to catch up on doctor bills and pay for the dentist.

Then a week later he said that the FINAL BILL was going to be $3,122. I told him that I had said that we couldn't go over $3,000. He said, I know, I know, but these things are needed. I said that I wanted a printed BILL not an estimate and that $3,122 was EVERYTHING. He agreed that $3,122 was EVERYTHING, and that was the FINAL BILL.

Then on 7/13 after they had the car for a month, Julio told my son, Dalton that the bill was $3,812!!! He said in front of witnesses that he "took it upon himself to do more repairs without permission,” because he “knew that it was going to overheat and the car needed a new fan clutch and a new thermostat and he did not want us to be stuck on the side of the road."

He overcharge on hoses, he overcharged on a rebuilt, spark plugs & motor mounts & serpentine belt should be included, he should not have charged for a cooling system power flush because when the engine is out the fluids are already drained. He did not list labor and parts separately. We got another estimate for $2,880 for the same amount of repair work from a different auto repair shop. (Coronado Auto Repair on CLOUDVIEW, the COOL CORONADO with different owners!)

He did NOT rebuild our engine, he put an old used one in that is a front mount, our old engine was a side mount AND the dipstick was on the right side, not the left as it is now. We had to add a quart of oil the DAY after we brought it home.

I gave Julio a cashier's check for $3,000 and he said that I could take a couple of months to pay the balance. I went in with my son and said I was not happy with being lied to about the amount of money we had to pay and he lowered our amount due from $852.19 to $500. I am still furious about being lied to, manipulated, and over charged.

NOW on 7/16, THREE DAYS LATER IT IS SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD because the serpentine belt that he put on is broken. We have only driven it back and forth to school twice.
