Please read before deciding as to where to send your loved one for care.

My father was recently placed at White Acres as a temporary resident in order for him to receive physical therapy. My family and I were always with my father, day in and day out we would go visit him. During visitations we realized the poor treatment that the residents receive there. This is the facility that if your loved one will be going to, as family members, you will need to be on top of their care. The nurses in this facility are the definition of negligence. On many occasions I would see elders that are visibly fall precautions standing up on their own, all while yelling for help-- the nurses? They were on the other side of the room chatting amongst themselves. On one specific occasion an elder women was standing on her own (it seemed as she had gotten up on her own and quickly realized it was a bad choice) this elder told me, "please, please go get help." I ran to call a nurse and very calmly she told me, "yeah, yeah-- I'll be there." She never went. I had to go help the resident myself. I brought these issues up to the admissions coordinator, I told her that it worries me that this facility has such a high fall rate and that it worries me that these elders are ending up in the emergency room for injuries that are clearly preventable such as her nurses falling asleep on the job (they caught two nurses literally asleep). All the coordinator had to say was, "I feel like you have something against my nurses."

I urge you to consider your options throughly and if you have loved ones there, look into their care. If your loved one who happens to be a resident there has recently fallen, look into it.

A friend stayed here for short term rehab. She heard a man crying and whimpering each night, being ignored by the nurses. When she asked her nurse to go tend to him, nurse replied that he is dying and there's no point since there is nothing they can do.

That is a horrible attitude towards the dying. The man did die in a couple of days. My friend saw uncaring attitudes towards others and she discharged herself back to home before her rehab was up. She absolutely hated the lack of compassion at White Acres.

My mother stayed here for some short term re-hab after her surgery. This place basically goes through the motions of helping you out; there is no accountablility. The social worker who oversees things is out of touch and makes up things along the way. I will never have another famil member stay here
