Provided by YP.comVery disappointed. I know nothing about garage doors. Came home late one night and the garage door would not open. My husband was out of town, so I called a neighbor. After pulling the cord, it still would not open manually. My neighbor said it was probably a spring. Call Area Door, they are great guys. So, I did, and they came out. After spending less than a minute, the gentleman determined an inside latch somehow closed. He said that some people put screws in so it doesn't happen again. OK, I will let my husband know when he gets home. He said he would do it, because after all there was a $95.00 service fee. HA! Nice time to let me know! When I called Area Door again, spoke to Harold the owner, he said that was the way they always did business. Had I asked they would have told me there was a service charge! I called it in as a spring! Area Door assumes their clients KNOW what is wrong with their doors, AND that they charge a service fee. Buyer beware! Ask a lot of specific questions before doing business with these people, their customer service regarding explaining their fees are severely lacking. It is their prerogative to charge a service fee, as it is my right to know before hand, so I can use my prerogative to price other companies. We try to support small local businesses, what a disappointment.

Provided by YP.comI am a DIY kinda guy. My garage door will not open when I get home. I determine the problem is the torsion spring. I go to Menards to buy new torsion springs. What I am being sold is not what I think will work. But people get paid for what they know so I take what the Menards employee offers me for new springs. Get home and they are the wrong springs. I go back to Menards the next morning talk to a different employee who leads me down the same road again. He says if your not sure these are right try Area Door on Foothill road. I go visit Area Door to buy the new springs and they explain it all in great detail. Not trying to sell me on the service I decide I'm done messing with this and ask for them to fix it. They show up at the right time on time, correct parts, installed less than an hour AND charge me less than the original quote. My repair was an older guy very nice, answered all my questions above and beyond. As you might get satisfied with service and price.

Provided by YP.comWe have used Area Door Service Company in the past. They are reaonably priced, prompt, and honest.
A couple of weeks ago an elderly neighbor said her garage door made a terrible noise. My husband went over and found one of the springs was broken. He called Area Door Service for the neighbor and made arrangements for service the next morning. First thing the next morning they were there taking care of the door spring. The neighbor had been concerned about getting to an appointment. The price was quoted before they came out after my husband described the size and description. After having ours done a couple of years ago, he knew the price was in line. They are good company for Elgin to have.

Provided by YP.comJust happened to be looking them up today so that I can refer them to a friend. I have used Area Door for years. Harold and his people have always been great to do business with. Excellent service for both the repair of our old door and then the installation of our new door.
