My wife slid off the road on silver glen and hit a pole, while I was out of town, she called Allstate Motor club. The motor club contacted Gopher towing, the guy showed and hooked up the car. My wife was now in the police car after an officer arrived to help her. The tow truck driver came over to the car and my wife told him to take the car to a body shop in St Charles, he said he was familiar with the shop. My wife tried to give him the address and he said oh I know the owner, come to find out not so much. Then he tells my wife that he is going to take the car back to his yard because the body shop is closed and he will deliver it first thing in the morning. Never let them take your car to their lot, then they can hold it hostage. When the car didn't show up my wife called me and I called the gopher towing. I was told that there is a balance due and they would not release the car. I asked what the balance was and he couldn't tell me. I called allstate and they battled with the owner for hours, because gopher wanted an extra $229, including storage fee's for the time it was on their lot, before they would release my car. The allstate representative stated that they lied to him and said they had authorization to take the car to their lot. Allstate said he was lying because they never allow that because their insurance does not cover the car on their lot. After many stressful hours allstate negotiated with them and I had to pay $100 just to get my car delivered to the auto body shop. The one good thing about the internet it gives you a voice to warn other potential victims. BEWARE.
