In 1975, Bud Knott & Sons Instant Duplicating was a small printer that served local Elgin, Ill., businesses. When the owners decided to retire, they sold the business to Kern, Steve and Diane Hagg. In 1977, the company acquired a small letterpress shop, acquired a Heidelberg Windmill letterpress and changed its name to Rush Printing. In 1998, the name was changed for the last time to Hagg Press. This change was made to de-emphasize the rushing of jobs and the graphics or design aspects of its previous name. Out of approximately 44,000 printers in America, the company is in the top 300 in regards to gross annual revenues. Capabilities include aqueous coating, digital stripping, ink jet addressing, bindery services, digital color proofing, laminating, mailing services, die cutting and electronic prepress. The company s products include color brochures, catalogs, bound books, pocket folders, booklets, posters, stationary and newsletters. Hagg Press is located in Elgin.
