Nothing has changed

As I was reading the reviews of this apartment complex I am kicking myself. Property shows nice as long as you don't see flaws. The flaws will end up in your apartment as they balanced my toliet with a nut and bolt. Yeah didn't hold. Stay away look else where. Horrible place would rather live in section 8 housing instead.

Hunters Ridge is a great place...

Hunters Ridge is a great place if you want none of your appliances to work or be fixed in your apartment. Since I have lived here I have had the washer and dryer break, hot water heater (several times) and AC (several times) break. Each time you have to babysit and micromanage the maintenance staff to replace and repair the units often taking an extremely long time frame to fix. Most recently the AC was broken during the July 2012 heat wave with several days of 100+ degree weather. After speaking with the management staff several times they finally sent a repair man (on my 3rd request) who subsequently threw all of our personal belongings on the ground including a stereo player hanging by cables off of a table. This repair man basically did nothing, did not leave a note of the current assessment of the work done or needed to be done. The communication is absolutely poor. Time frames are never given or whether they have completed a task or not. Often times I have found their records will claim a request was fulfilled when really nothing was fixed. This probably is best reflected by the sign the new management company put on a banner claiming they were a [sic] "proffessional" management company. Their "proffessionalism" shines right through.

Also this is an apartment complex that prides its self on being a complex that does background checks and has family friendly buildings. I live in a "family friendly" building. It generally has been family friendly except when they rented a downstairs unit to a girlfriend of a drug dealer. Her friends would go out in the parking lot on weeknights and yell obscenities and get into fights. Several times her friends broken personal property of other tenants including windshields of other residents cars. This happened several times. I would literally call the cops 1x a week minimum for a 7 month period to deal with this problem. When I asked Hunters Ridge what could be done they said I could only call the cops. To be honest this was a safety hazard not to mention all the damage being done to personal property and sleep lost. Again very [sic] "proffessional".

Also now with the new lease contracts, not only is it a 60 day renewal period, if you try to break early you have to give up all rent concessions. They have a habit of listing the apartments at a much lower price than "market value" and the price difference is a concession that you have to pay if you break the lease early. Its a sham.

The whole place is unacceptable. If you must live in Elgin, look somewhere else.
