Worst ever. Period. He has been used twice by outside brokers to appraise our house which at one point just within the last 4 years appraised for $118,500. his appraisal came in at originally 86,000, which of course caused the sale of the house to fall through. Somehow he got hired again to appraise our house eight months later when we had a different seller and he appraised it for 6000 less than he originally priced it. So 80,000 dollars. He's not from the area, his comps were terrible, he was comparing our house which is essentially new construction, to houses that had been outfitted with stuff that was purchased at Habitat for Humanity. On top of all of that, he refused to cross what he called a major dividing line in the community despite the fact that our community is only about a mile and a half in diameter. Last but not least, he barged into our house without knocking and without any kind of scheduling that he was going to show up. When I asked him what he was doing he said he thought the house was vacant, but then later changed his story to "the realtor had not told me what was going on." which I know is not true I had just recently talked to our realtor and she was trying to get in contact with the appraisal service to find out when it was scheduled for, originally he had it scheduled for the day before but just no-showed. Which our realtor did inform us about in advance. Sorry for the long review, I just don't want anybody else to have to put up with this, hopefully this will help inform you on your decision of which appraiser you will hire.
