Sossner Sales Corporation, also known as Sossner Steel Stamps, was organized in 1910 by A. J. Sossner. The company was under original management until 1955, when illness caused the founder s retirement. At that time, the company was bought by Jerry Friedman in 1955. It remained under his management until Friedman retired in 1991. The company uses EDM machines and software to automate engraving. The company also manufactures carbide stamps. Sossner acquired interest in other engraving and marking machine manufacturers, such as the Martin-Sossner company in Massachusetts, the WAL-KAR-Sossner Company in Rhode Island, Southern Sossner Company in North Carolina and Ace Precision Engraving in New York. The company s location in Elizabethton, Tenn., is 47,000 square feet.
