Established in 2001, California Montessori Project offers Montessori-based educational programs to students in kindergarten through grade eight. It offers classes in reading, writing, math, science, English, social studies, history, health, physical education, music, computer technology, language arts and foreign languages. The school provides accelerated reader and gifted and talented education programs. It additionally offers before- and after-school programs to assist students with homework and supervised activities. The school also offers lunch and breakfast programs for its students. It conducts various parent-teacher conferences that serve as a resource for students, parents and staff. The school is accredited by the Montessori Schools Accrediting Commission and Western Association of Schools and Colleges. California Montessori Project maintains one of its locations in Elk Grove, Calif.

CMP unfortunately has taken a steady decline in the last few years. A few years ago we received a new prinicipal, Mickey Slamkowski. She has managed to slowly destroy the school during her employment with CMP. She has forgotten that montessori education is the reason parents choose to enroll there children in the school. We are unable to retain good quality teachers year to year. When asked why the teachers reluctantly advise that they cannot work for the principal. If you are considering this school I would highly recommend you re-think this idea. I could give hundreds of reasons as to why I would rate our school as a 1, but I will leave it at what I have stated. We have been at CMP for 6 years and are choosing to leave along with many great parents. It is a very difficult choice but we feel the right one. Good luck in your search for the right school for your child.
