I have been studying at Waza Jiu Jitsu for a little over 2 years now, and I all I can really say is that I'm hooked on Jiu Jitsu! Whether you just want to learn something new or you want to get in better shape this is the place for you. From day one the students here are happy to see you every time you show up and encourage you every step of the way, But the main reason that I am having this much fun learning is because of Owner/Instrutor Derek DiManno. Not only does he have a vast knowledge of BJJ, but he teaches in a way that you can understand and follow... Just trust me and give it a week, I know you get hooked as well!

What a classy operation Waza has going. Everything is top notch over there. The instructor Derek DiManno is a cut above the rest. The facility is always clean, and the other students are really respectful of eachother. No muscle-heads or egos that you have to worry about (believe me many other gyms have them) The instruction is very clear and understandable and the lay out of the class is very effective to allow you to use the technique that has been taught earlier in the class during the live roll. I have been to many other schools and Waza BJJ is one you have to check out. I almost forgot to mention the kids class is really well run. They are all conducted by the owner Derek DiManno as the primary instructor. He is very patient and clear with the kids to make sure that they understand what he is teaching. Good sized classes also for kids and adults alike.

I have been training in martial arts for over twenty years, and I can say that Waza Jiu-Jitsu is a great place to train. I have been training at Waza for almost one year. Derek DiManno, the head instructor, is not only a great Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, but also a great teacher. Even if you are brand new, he will make you feel right at home and take great care of you. Everyone at Waza is very friendly and welcoming. You can still be competitive, without having to worry about tough-guy egos. I highly recommend Waza to anyone interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and I know I will be there for years to come!

WAZA..highly recommended

Great school! Although BJJ is a technical sport, Derek's teaching methods are very methodical and he takes time to really break down the techniques so anyone can learn no matter their prior martial arts background. For those in law enforcement fields, BJJ is a must have tool that has many practical applications, in addition it will really make you fit and makes a great addition to any workout program. Good option for those that live in the Elk Grove, South Sacramento area but I have seen student come from a lot further away to get some great instruction from one of the few elite BJJ black belt practitioners in northern california.

WAZA!

Great academy that is instructed by a great instructor, Derek. He is very knowledgable and cares for his students safety at all times. Classes are offered 6 days a week, morning and night time so there is no excuse to miss a class. Mats are cleaned on a routine basis, there are male and female lockers, a bathroom and padding on the walls. Derek is very dedicated to his academy and goes the extra mile to help students wanting to learn more. The student environment is very welcoming to new students, so dont be scared to ask questions. The location of the academy is very convenient and close to many restaurants if your looking to grab a quick bite after training.

First Class Jiu Jitsu School

For anyone looking to get into Jiu Jitsu, understand the predominant style in Mixed Martial Arts or improve on your game, this is the place to be. Waza is an ego free Jiu Jitsu gym, which is hard to come by these days, that is accepting of practitioners at all levels. Derek (owner) does a fantastic job of facilitating the lessons, offering individual attention and creating a sense of community amongst his students. Everyone is helpful including the other participants in classes. Not only is the gym enjoyable to be a part of, it absolutely produces results. My proficiency in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has grown exponentially compared to other gym I have been associated with. This is not a BJJ school run by a blue belt out of the local YMCA; Derek is a legitimate elite level black belt that not only understands Jiu Jitsu, but understands how to relay the information to practitioners on all levels.

Financially it is also the best deal in the Sacramento Area.

My highest recommendation.
