Established in 1903, the Cheltenham Police Department responds to several emergency response calls and conducts 24-hour street patrols to ensure public safety and security. It investigates crimes and vehicle accidents, as well as conducts traffic studies. The Cheltenham Police Department has special situation units and provides a range of safety education and crime prevention programs for community groups. It has more than 80 staff members and operates administrative services, patrol and detective divisions that work with the department. The department provides highway safety, community policing and graffiti removal services. Additionally, it conducts home security inspections, as well as students internship programs. The Cheltenham Police Department is located in Elkins Park, Pa., and is governed by Cheltenham Township, Pa.
