Friendly and quick

I have taken my car to Gary's for oil changes for a couple years now and always had a good experience. They really do have your full service oil change done in less than 15 min. Recently my car was having difficulty with the MAF sensor and my car broke down one street down from Gary's oil city. I called them and they actually drove to where I was to see what was going on and they then brought my car to their shop and fixed it! I appreciate a company going out of their way to have good customer service!

If you want to be taken advant...

If you want to be taken advantage of, go to Gary's. I agree with the other reviewer that Cesar was great. The problem is the management. I talked with Gary about getting the part myself that I needed and that I could pay for the part, but Gary wanted to buy the part so he could make a small profit. He told me he would only make $30 on the part, so when my father picked up the part in Salt Lake and brought it over, there was actually a $66 difference. Strike one, Gary flat out lied to me. So I asked him about it and he said that I had to pay the price I was quoted. Since my car was towed there, needing a new fuel pump and out of commission, I was completely taken advantage of. They charged me for a 5 hour job, when Clack Automotive would have fixed the fuel pump for a 2 hour job. I was charged $85 an hour, so I was way overcharged more than double for the labor. I know for a fact they didn't work on it for 5 hours either because I was staying across the street and also eating at the McDonald's across the street and know that they didn't spend more than 2 1/2 hours on my car. Strike two. When I called the day after and talked to Gary about the price, he said that's what he charges... a 5 hour job for the past 20 years. So if you want to pay more than double, go to Gary's. If you want to be treated fairly, go somewhere else. Gary then even had the nerve to tell me he should have charged me more when I went to pick up the car, it wasn't right, vibrating and all and the mechanic, Cesar looked at it quickly and fixed the vibration problem. Strike three and your out. Take your business elsewhere. That's all I can say.

New Ownership - Gary's Oil City & Auto Repair - GREAT!

I was passing through Elko on my way to California and had a dead battery. Even though Gary's (formerly Chucks') Auto Repair was slammed that day, they took care of me because I was from out of town. Turns out I had a dead battery. They had me back on the road in less than an hour. I highly recommend their services!
