The first Waffle House restaurant was opened on Labor Day in 1955 in Avondale Estates, Ga. Since then, it has grown into a chain of more than 1,500 company and franchise-owned casual restaurants in over 25 U.S. states. It serves a variety of waffles, steaks, omelets, hamburgers, country ham, pork chops and grits. The restaurant serves specialty dishes, such as Bert's chili, Walt s soup, Alice s iced tea and Lib's patty melt. It offers hash browns in eight different ways. Waffle House serves more than 3 million pounds of grits each year and over 10,000 T-bone steaks each day. Apart from serving food, the restaurant supports various health and human service organizations, youth and education programs, and disadvantage and other civic causes. It conducts in-house events and programs, such as The Great Miller Lite Chili Cook-off and the Waffle House World Waffle Eating Championship.

horrible customer service

$337.75 was charged to my credit card for breakfast for 4 people back in March and every since then I've been trying to get $300.00 back that they admitted I was over charged. I contected their cooperate headquarters and still hit a dead end. They finally gave me the owners phone number and it ended up being a wrong number. I went to the waffle house to speak to one of the managers and she found a copy of their receipt showing a charged for the amount and promised that her boss (the owner) will have his accountant write me a check for the amount of $300.00. Still no check and now when I called she does not answer her phone so I ended up leaving messages for her, still waiting for a call back. Can you imagine spending $300.00 plus for breakfast at the waffle house.

Several people told me that you have to be careful using your credit card there for when you leave cash on the table and you go to pay your bill, the cashier does not believe and you ended up being charged for more that what you signed for, so when you leave a zero on the tip line make sure you cross it out carefully. An ex-employee gave me that info.
