Status One Designs Inc
403 W Spotswood Trl, Elkton, VA 22827
In 1988 Chuck Tomney founded Status One Designs, Inc as a reinforcing steel detailing company. During the first four years of its existence Status One employed three to four people and concentrated on developing market share in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Over the course of the following years, Status One slowly and methodically expanded both its personnel roster and its target market area. By 1998, the company had well-established customers in the southeastern, mid-western, and northeastern United States. In that same year, Status One expanded its services to include P&IDs ( Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams ) and the company completed its first overseas job, the Thai Oil Cogen Project in Thailand. Status One has proudly been a member of the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute since 1993. Status One's success is due in large part to the company's determination not only to keep abreast of, but also to lead in the technological innovations in its field. Status One has successfully developed its own proprietary software routines aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing the costs associated with reinforcing steel detailing. Further, as one of the first independent detailing firms to adopt RebarCAD, a revolutionary software program in the detailing industry, Status One was instrumental in encouraging use of the software among steel fabricators. One of the largest technological challenges still facing detailing firms is total project integration ( with involvement by architects, engineers, construction crews, fabricators and detailers ) in electronic format. Status One is about to participate in the development of a web-based prototype for total project management. Projected market development includes the Gulf States, the West Coast, and a significantly increased international presence. Status One currently employs nine people.
